Beyond the Booth: Why Conversations Like These Matter

Beat Bangaz DJ Academy hosted another insightful workshop at Artscape in September, Beyond the Booth — a conversation exploring the possibilities that exist beyond the traditional spaces we often associate with DJing.

And while the focus was on what happens beyond the booth, the real value was in the conversation itself. Bringing together different generations, experiences and perspectives created an opportunity for honest and meaningful exchanges about the changing landscape of DJ culture and the many pathways available to those looking to build, grow and contribute beyond simply playing music.

The contributions from our female panelists were particularly insightful, offering perspectives and experiences that are important to hear and create space for.

These conversations remind us that there is no single route into the industry and that everyone's journey can look very different.

We're looking forward to continuing the conversation with our next Beyond the Booth workshop in October 2026.

More conversations. More perspectives. More pathways beyond the booth.
